Yunlin Buddha templom / Yunlin Buddhist Temple

Az első buddhista templom itt, Hangzhou-tól nyugatra a hegyekben kr.sz. 328-ban épült meg, s 960-ra már 9 templomával, 18 pavilonjával, 72 termével, 1300 szobájával 3000 szerzetesnek otthont adva az 5. legnagyobb Zen kolostorrá nőtte ki magát a Yangtzétól délre.
Itt található többek között a Nagy Buddha terem, amiben a 24.8 m magas Buddha szobrot 24 kámforfából faragták ki és az 500 Arhat terem is, ahol 500 különböző Arhat szobor látható.

Mondanom sem kell, hogy így újév táján rengeteg kínai jön ide imádkozni – egy nagyon felszínes szinten ugyan, de a kultúrális forradalom ellenére is megmaradtak, többnyire buddhistának. A kolostort bejárni egy jó fél napos program, de mondanom sem kell, megéri. Elképesztő, hogy több, mint 1500 évvel ezelőtt is már milyen szinten volt az építészeti (és minden más) kultúrájuk.

The first buddhist temple here, in the mountains westwards from Hangzhou was built in 328 A.D. and by 960 A.D. with its 9 tempels, 18 pavilons, 72 halls, 1300 rooms and 3000 monks it became one of the top 5 biggest Zen Buddhist temples south from the Yangtze river.
Here you can find the Great Buddha Hall with a 24.8 m tall, woodcarved Buddha Statue and the 500 Arhat Hall with 500 different Arhat Statues.

I don’t have to tell, that the temple was full with Chinese people coming to visit and pray – despite of the cultural revolution they still have some shallow religius faith, mostly in Buddhism.
You will need at least half a day to see mostly everything here, but it worth it. The level of arthitecture (and everything else) they had 1500 years ago is amazing!
